Here are the winning designs we are building as protoypes.
Please note that all of the designs are the property of the architects and may not be reproduced in any manner whatsoever without their permission.
The Camargo house
The design submitted by the team headed by Miriam Camargo is an interesting hybrid of construction technologies. The core of the house, containing the kitchen, bathroom and mechanical equipment is factory fabricated as a modular structure. On either end of this connecting “wet core” are living and bedroom modules constructed of structural insulated panels.
I will let the designers explain it.
The Gleason house
James Gleason and his team of architects proposed a more traditional style home fabricated from two factory built modules. This team has emphasized energy-saving designs and green building technologies.
Here is James explaining his design.
The Lee House
James Lee and his team designed a single module factory built house with an optional wing providing a third bedroom and second bath. The unique feature about this house is that the long and narrow configuration of the two bedroom one bath design allows it to be built on extremely narrow lots such as those found on the Gulf coast of East Texas.
The HOK house
A team of architects from HOK, led by Javier Espinosa came up with a very modern design using prefabricated wall units bolted to a bright steel structural members. The house makes extensive use of natural ventilation and renewable building products.
Here is their description of the house.
